In the State of Ohio we have laws related to informed consent, requiring doctors to inform patients of certain information in order that they may make informed decisions. Such laws apply to abortionists, but they are NOT comprehensive.
House Bill 421, sponsored by State Representative Jennifer Gross, requires abortionists to inform women about the possibility of their increased risk of breast cancer after an abortion, and the potential of experiencing mental health side effects. Furthermore, House Bill 421 updates Ohio’s ultrasound law to simply require that doctors and technicians explain what is being shown in the ultrasound, sharing the images with the patient and providing audio if a heartbeat is detectable.
House Bill 421 isn’t about abortion. It is about women’s health care. Even those who support abortion should want women to be given all the information about the potential side effects of any medical procedure. Women have a right to know the facts.
Contact the House Health Committee today and ask them to grant a hearing on this critical women’s health issue.

Message: House Bill 421 is not about abortion. It is about women and their healthcare. On behalf of myself and Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio, I write today to ask you to hear House Bill 421 and pass it through committee.
Even if you support abortion, you should still desire that women be given all the information about the potential side effects of any medical procedure. Women have a right to know the facts. The facts are: - Many women suffer from PTSD symptoms after abortion. 22 states have passed laws requiring abortionists to inform women of this. - There are dozens of published medical studies showing a link between abortion and breast cancer. Five states have passed laws requiring abortionists to inform women of this. - Women should be given the opportunity to see and hear their child through ultrasound before deciding on an abortion. Please hear House Bill 421, and pass it through committee as soon as possible. Women in our state should have the right to know. |
