Induced abortions must be reported to the Ohio Department of Health by the physician who performed the abortion, using a State required form. Confidential Abortion Reports... The confidential reports include demographic and medical history information about the woman obtaining the abortion and information about the medical procedure. These reports are used to produce statistical reports about abortions occurring in Ohio. The forms are confidential: no identifying information about women who obtain abortions is collected except the medical record number. Abortion statistics are summarized in the annual Induced Abortions in Ohio report series.

The Defense Authorization Act, which was defeated in the Senate September 21, 2010 by a 56-43 vote, included a measure to repeal a longstanding ban on abortions at U.S. military hospitals overseas.
The routine bill authorizing $726 billion in defense spending was turned into a political game by the including mandated abortions be provided on military bases.
Those who voted "no" are not against funding our military. They voted "no" to reject the unrelated but very important issues tacked on to this bill in an effort to push these items through before the November election.
Here are some action items:
- Senator Brown supports abortion on military bases; Voinovich is with us. Thank Voinovich and continue to encourage him; ask Senator Brown to prevent the passage of any legislation that will expand the authorization of or funding for abortion.
- Learn where candidates for all elected positions stand on life issues before the November election, and
- Be vigilant in recognizing future pre-election attempts to force passage of anti-life / pro-abortion measures by attaching them to unrelated bills being voted on by Congress. Be aware of these "hidden agendas."

FDA approves ella as 5-day-after emergency contraceptive... The Food and Drug Administration approved a controversial new form of emergency contraception Friday that can prevent a pregnancy as many as five days after sex. Pro-life groups point out it will cause very early abortions. The drug is untested and women will be misinformed about how it works as an abortion agent. Coming Soon…(Already Here?): Taxpayer Funded Telemed Abortion Systems…Planned Parenthood of the Heartlands (Greater Iowa) dispenses RU-486 to hundreds, if not thousands, of women every year. However, this affiliate has previously been unable to distribute the abortion pill at its rural clinics, some of which are as much as 120 miles from a hospital or emergency care facility, because there is no doctor available.
Their answer is “telemedicine,” where a doctor at a remote location conducts patient consultations over the Internet. This scheme completely bypasses the foundational in-person, doctor-patient relationship and parental consent laws.
Planned Parenthood stands to make enormous profits if this type of “telemed” abortion is successful.
This method is not being done in other parts of the country – yet. But, Planned Parenthood intends to expand the use of this procedure. (Source: LifeNews.com)
In agreement with the National Right to Life Committee, Americans United for Life, Family Research Council, and other leading pro-life organizations...Dayton Right to Life opposes confirmation of Elena Kagan to the office of Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Here are some of the reasons why:
- She played a key role in keeping partial-birth abortion method legal for an additional decade.
- She defended the position that creation of human embryos by cloning should be
allowed, as long as the embryos were used as research subjects and not allowed to develop to
birth (a policy known as "clone and kill") soon after the first cloned human mammal (Dolly the sheep) was created in 1996.
- She said that the question of whether physicians in Oregon should be prevented by federal law from using federally controlled drugs in the practice of assisted suicide....would be a "terrible idea." (1998)
- In the area of First Amendment jurisprudence...as Solicitor General, in the case of Citizens United v. FEC, Ms. Kagan defended the proposition that the government has the authority to severely restrict or ban not only broadcast ads but even pamphlets, if produced by incorporated groups [such as Right to Life], deemed to be election-related because of their proximity to an election and their reference to federal office seekers.
These are only a few of Ms. Kagan's suspect and troublesome credentials. As the hearings are being conducted now, more information is becoming known.
ACTION: Please contact your Senators http://www.senate.gov/ immediately to oppose confirmation of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Please contact your senators too about the Defense Authorization bill that includes language to force military bases to do abortions in their medical facilities.
Ohio Right to Life Pro-life Lobbying Day at the Statehouse, April 21 Recap
Dayton advocated for life at our State Capitol on Wednesday, April 21st. We met with our legislators, including State Representative Peggy Lehner, Terry Blair, Roland Winburn, Seth Morgan and State Senator Jon Husted regarding life issues and opposing the Prevention First Act (H.B. 293 & S.B. 176). The Prevention First Act is a piece of current legislation that Planned Parenthood supports that would require hospital emergency rooms to provide the morning-after pill and would require the Department of Health to publish materials on how to use the morning-after pill. It also promotes "comprehensive sex education" over abstinence education. In addition, we opposed H.B. 333 which introduced separately hospitals being required to provide the morning-after pill to sexual assault victims despite moral objections of institution or health care personnel. We supported S.B. Reform Judicial Bypass for Parental Consent which avoids "rubber-stamp" approval of minors' requests for bypass of parental consent and also supported an upcoming bill called "Post-Viable Infants Protection Act."
Nine Ohio U.S. Representatives Vote for Pro-Abortion Healthcare
Executive Order Does Not Cancel Abortion Concerns
|
On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 219 to 212 to pass H.R. 3590, the pro-abortion Senate Health Care bill. Nine Ohio Members of Congress voted in favor of this pro-abortion bill - thus providing the votes necessary for its passage.
They are: Steve Driehaus; Charlie Wilson; Marcy Kaptur; Dennis Kucinich; Marcia Fudge; Betty Sutton; Mary Jo Kilroy; John Boccieri; and Tim Ryan.
Although President Obama agreed to issue an Executive Order supposedly preventing abortion funding under the bill in order to obtain the votes of some of these legislators, the Executive Order will not prevent the pro-abortion effects of the bill. As National Right to Life stated:
"The executive order promised by President Obama was issued for political effect. It changes nothing. It does not correct any of the serious pro-abortion provisions in the bill. The president cannot amend a bill by issuing an order, and the federal courts will enforce what the law says."
The view that the Executive Order will not correct the pro-abortion problems with the bill was also confirmed by legal experts consulted by the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops and Americans United for Life.
Persons wishing to express their disappointment at their vote can contact these Representatives at the following numbers:
John Bocceri (202) 225-3876 or (330) 489-4414
Steve Driehaus (202) 225-2216 or (513) 684-2723
Marcia Fudge (202) 225-7032 or (216) 522-4900
Marcy Kaptur (202) 225-4146 or (800) 964-4699
Dennis Kucinich (202) 225-5871 or (216) 228-8850
Mary Jo Kilroy (202) 225-2015 or (614) 294-2196

Betty Sutton (202) 225-3401 or (330) 865-8450

-February 24--UNDERCOVER TAPE AT WI PLANNED PARENTHOOD SHOWS 10TH CASE OF CHILD SEX ABUSE COVERUP
Contact: Kristina Hernandez 703-373-0632 khernandez@crcpublicrelations.com
MILWAUKEE, February 23--New undercover footage shows staff at a Milwaukee, WI Planned Parenthood abortion clinic counseling a purportedly 14-year-old statutory rape victim not to tell anyone about her 31-year-old boyfriend and coaching her how to obtain an abortion without her parents' consent. The new video, ninth in a series from Live Action documenting similar behavior in 5 other states, comes amid recent controversy about Planned Parenthood's compliance with state laws regarding minors and abortion.
In the video, after hearing the girl is 14 and her boyfriend is "much older," the counselor says whether or not the situation will be reported by clinic workers "depends on the person you're disclosing that information to." When the girl says that her boyfriend is 31, the counselor tells her, "You don't have to say anything" about the statutory rape and instructs her, "Just give them the information that's needed." The counselor also confirms that the 31-year-old "boyfriend" will be paying for the abortion.
In Wisconsin, sex between an adult and a minor under age 16 is a felony, and health care professionals are required to report such cases to law enforcement immediately. The law specifically includes abortion providers in this requirement.
Live Action, the youth-led pro-life nonprofit that produced the video, has previously released undercover footage in its "Mona Lisa Project" showing sexual abuse cover-up at Planned Parenthood clinics in California, Indiana, Arizona, Tennessee, and Alabama. The Alabama Department of Health put a Birmingham Planned Parenthood on probation two weeks ago after finding 9 legal violations during an investigation prompted by a Live Action video.
Twenty-one-year-old UCLA student Lila Rose, Live Action's president, says her organization's videos reveal a common trend of unethical counseling practices and disregard for the law at Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the U.S.: "In case after case, Planned Parenthood acts in contempt of its legal and professional obligations to report child rape. At a time when the Obama administration, through its new health care plan, is offering potentially billions of dollars to the abortion industry, state and federal lawmakers need to take notice of Planned Parenthood's lawlessness and make certain they receive no more taxpayer subsidies."
Live Action is also responsible for a recent video expose of biased counseling and medical misinformation at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. Wisconsin law requires that women be provided accurate medical information before undergoing an abortion.
"The evidence is now available for all to see that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin ignores state laws that have been in place for years," Rose says. "Wisconsin law enforcement needs to follow the lead of other jurisdictions, investigate this corrupt organization, and enforce the laws that protect vulnerable women and their pre-born children."
