University of Dayton College Outreach:

Because 40% of all abortions are done on women between the ages of 18 and 24, Ohio Right to Life has initiated the College Outreach Campaign. The objective of the campaign is to change the behavior of college students who are most at risk for choosing abortion and those who influence them. Dayton Right to Life has partnered with Ohio Right to Life to initiate this program on the University of Dayton campus. Their first plan of action was to test specific messages to determine if they are effective at increasing the number of students who would choose not to have an abortion or encourage their friends to reject abortion when faced with an unexpected pregnancy.

Student surveys were done and images were tested for the school year 2003-2004. Our research showed that 90% of the women see themselves as successful; however if they had an unexpected pregnancy the number fell to 50%. Other findings:

These findings indicate that we need to bring a message of hope to these women. Dayton Right to Life will distribute a comprehensive resource guide for the college students, as well as information on campus at the health clinic, women's wellness center, and campus ministry office have been distributed for referral to crisis pregnancy centers and other help.

Wright State University College Outreach:

An abortion clinic, the Ohio Women's Center, has opened its doors across from Wright State University, in Fairborn, Ohio. This clinic specializes in chemical abortions known as RU-486.  Click here for more information on this procedure: http://www.morningafterpill.org
